This is how I feel when I walk into an Ulta store. If you haven’t been, it’s like Sephora but the brands are a little more reasonably-priced and there’s a huge drugstore section. It’s beautiful.
When I went last week, I was feeling a little adventurous. I remembered seeing somewhere that someone was using white eyeliner and that seemed pretty cool so despite the fact I hadn’t the faintest idea what to do with white eyeliner, I bought one.
When I got home, I googled “how to wear white eyeliner,” and found this article from Seventeen. I was like, no. All of these looks are much too crazy. I’m not wearing white eyeliner stretched clear out to my temples or white eyeliner in sharp lines below my eyes like I’ve tried to do my makeup in the dark and have horribly, horribly failed. These looks might work for models but I would be laughed at if I tried to wear this around campus.
So I started playing around, and I think I’m pretty happy with the result. Here are some looks I found for wearing wear white eyeliner without looking like a crazy person:
1. Use white eyeliner on your waterline to brighten your eyes.
This is perfect to use especially when you’re going for a smoky eye look, to lighten things up a little. Line your eyes like normal, but then add white eyeliner to your waterline. Super subtle but makes your eyes stand out more.
2. Swipe a thick white line across your top lashes only for a mod look.
I really like this one. It’s something fun and says “I’m wearing white liner” without saying “HI I’M BEING SUPER ADVENTUROUS.”
3. Line your eyes, top and bottom, with white eyeliner, then smudge it.
I tried this look this morning. Before I smudged it, I looked a little scary. But after smudging it, my eyes looked super bright, and black mascara was the perfect finishing touch to avoid giving me creepy ghostly eyes.
4. Use the white eyeliner on the inside corners of your eyes to make them look bigger.
This is a fun trick that a lot of the celebrities use. Apply your eyeliner like normal, then make a sideways “v” shape in the corner of your eye and blend with your finger or a sponge.
What are your feelings on white eyeliner? Which look is your favorite?
Happy Trendy Tuesday!

Lol I still appreciate the comments! I think most men would probably agree, although I know speaking from experience with the men in my life they tend just to care that it “looks good.”

I’ve always been scared to try white eyeliner, but I like how you’ve mentioned basically using it as an accent liner for your black liner.. I might have to try this!

Do it! Let me know how it works out 🙂 I’ve been really happy with using it so far. I’m wearing the look with just white on the top, and I like it a lot.
